Following Video Documentation, PPFA to "Retrain" Staff
Part One of Three

By Dave Andrusko

Good evening and thanks for being part of the discussion. Part Two tells the tragic story of a pregnant woman who was mistakenly given a powerful abortifacient. Part Three is the happy news that Hawaii has again rejected assisted suicide. Over at National Right to Life News Today (www.nationalrighttolifenews.org), we bring you the latest excerpt from the report of the Philadelphia Grand Jury that investigated abortionist Kermit Gosnell. We finish with further evidence the Democratic Party, driven by pro-abortionists, is headed off the cliff in the South. To do the best job possible I need your feedback on both Today's News & Views and National Right to Life News Today. Please send your comments to daveandrusko@gmail.com. At literally the same time Planned Parenthood is denouncing video documentation provided by the pro-life organization Live Action as a "hoax," the New York Times is reporting that yesterday PPFA announced it is "retraining" the 11,000 employees at its 800 "health clinics."

Posing as a pimp and a prostitute, two members of Live Action have covertly videotaped PPFA clinic personnel, first in New Jersey, then four clinics in Virginia (beginning in Richmond) , and most recently one in the Bronx.

"Planned Parenthood's problems go far beyond New Jersey," Live Action President Lila Rose said in a statement. "Our new video shows their Richmond clinic willing to aid and abet the sexual exploitation of minors and coaching a pimp about how girls as young as 14 – 15 could circumvent parental consent laws for secret abortions. Watch the video – the clinic worker admits they do this 'once or twice a month.'"

The only discipline made public was the firing of the office manager in Perth Amboy, New Jersey.

The Times' story says nothing about "retraining" staff about the way it handled the couple who posed as sex traffickers when they asked about getting abortions for girls as young as 14 some of whom, the clinic personnel were told, were not even legal residents of the United States.

For example, when they asked the New Jersey office manager what should they do if one of the young girls they pretended to be using as sex slaves needs an abortion, they were allegedly told to take them to Metropolitan Medical Associates where "their protocols aren't as strict as ours and they don't get audited the same way that we do." Back in 2009 Liz Townsend wrote a story for National Right to Life News headlined, "Abortion Mill Settles Lawsuit with Injured Woman" for $1.9 million. The headline refers to Metropolitan Medical Associates.

According to the Times (the story was actually written by the Associated Press but carried in the Times), "Health care provider Planned Parenthood will retrain employees who deal with patients in how to report potential risks to minors, following the release of secretly recorded videotapes by an anti-abortion group that alleges they show clinic staff counseling a man posing as a pimp for underage prostitutes."

In case anyone were to misconstrue this as an admission of guilt, "Federation spokesman Stuart Schear emphasized that the training was not new but was meant as a refresher," according to the AP. "He said training will follow state laws where affiliates have clinics."

In addition, whereas the old disciplinary policy for failure to report was pay without leave and retraining, the new policy is "termination in all proved cases in which there has been a failure to report."

The policy will go into effect after the training is completed, the AP reports. That completion date? April 1.
