The Pro-Life Week in Review
Part Two of ThreeBy Dave
Andrusko
There's already lots to read today
both at "Today's News & views" and "National Right to Life News Today" (www.nationalrighttolifenews.org),
so this week-in-review summary will be brief.
First
a plug for a very important educational asset : National Right to Life News.
Even in an age dominated by electronic media, there remains an important
place for newspapers. NRL News remains "must-reading," the more so as we
turn the corner to do battle with pro-abortion President Barack Obama the
second two years of his term.
Ordinarily $16, a gift subscription is
only $10. During the Christmas season, please give the gift of Life. (www.nrlc.org/news/GiftSubscribe.html).
We devoted a lot of attention this
week to LeRoy Carhart. Not because he is the only abortionist to perform
abortions late in pregnancy, or that his clinics are the only ones guilty of
such atrocities. He's not. At least 140 facilities nationwide perform
abortions at 2l weeks LMP weeks, and about 18,000 abortions are performed
each year after the 21st week of pregnancy.
We focus on Carhart because he is
running from Nebraska's "Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act" which
prevents Carhart from aborting babies older than 20 weeks--babies clearly
able to feel pain. As he takes his tools of death to other states, it's
important that these states pass comparable laws (www.nrlc.org/News_and_Views/Dec10/nv121510.html).
In Part Three today, we return to a
topic we discussed earlier in the work. Pro-abortionists are not stupid.
They know they must ridicule, trivialize, and deride solid research showing
that abortion hurts women. It's no accident that twice in the last month,
the Washington Post published op-eds criticizing peer-reviewed research
showing the emotional and psychological fallout from abortion (www.nrlc.org/News_and_Views/Dec10/nv121410.html).
On Monday we talked about the great
news that pro-life Joe Pitts is taking over the reins of very, very
important House Subcommittee. (That was confirmed later this week.) Given
the scope of the influential House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on
Health's jurisdiction, Pitts' selection is big news!
We ran several stories about still
more good news about the curative powers of adult stem cells (for example
www.nrlc.org/News_and_Views/Dec10/nv121510part4.html; and
www.nrlc.org/NewsToday/Donkey.html).
Even more encouraging were the stories
discussing the excellent prospects for state legislation in 2011 (www.nrlc.org/News_and_Views/Dec10/nv121410part3.html;
and
http://www.nrlc.org/NewsToday/ProLifeLegislation121410.html). All this
was made possible because of the extraordinary efforts of grassroots
pro-lifers!
