2011: The Year of the Pro-Life Teen
Part Three of Four

By Joleigh Little

Exciting things are happening at National Teens for Life! Of course I can’t tell you about ALL of them right now, but please stay tuned for updates throughout the year. (Shameless ploy to keep you reading? Perhaps.)

Assuming that your interest is peaked, your ears are tuned, and you’re just WAITING to find out what’s up, we have a couple of events happening right after the first of the year.

The National Teens for Life Summit will be held over the weekend of January 21–23. What’s so incredible about the NTL Summit? I’m so glad you asked!

The summit brings teenagers from across the country together in our nation’s capital for a weekend of intense training on the life issues. Those who attend hear from, literally, the absolute leading experts in the nation on the issues of abortion, euthanasia, and stem cell research. In addition, they spend three days building friendships with other right-to-life teens, networking and learning how to be a voice for life in their local communities.

The cost is purposely kept low—two nights in a Washington hotel, all meals (Friday supper through Sunday lunch), Summit materials, and a t-shirt for $225.

To add an additional night at the hotel and stay over for the March for Life, the cost is $275. If a student would prefer to spend just the day Saturday at the Summit (we call that “Prime Time”), the cost is $75 and includes supper.

Past Summit attendees have gone on to head up right-to-life groups on their college campuses, intern at National Right to Life, and take on staff positions in the right-to-life movement. But even if that’s not your goal, the Summit promises a full weekend of camaraderie, laughter, learning, and possibly even a few well-sown tears—all in celebration of life and in defense of a cause that is unparalleled in its importance.

Make no mistake, every young person who attends has the potential to make a difference and to save lives. Don’t miss this opportunity!

As if that weren’t enough, this year National Teens for Life will be bringing back a celebrated favorite event, the National Teens for Life Congressional Reception. Held at a secret (not really, we’ll tell you if you e-mail us!) location on Capitol Hill immediately following the March for Life, this event gives young people an unprecedented opportunity to meet with and hear from pro-life members of Congress.

Invited guests will include pro-life champion Congressman Chris Smith, as well as all of the new pro-life members of the 112th Congress.

The NTL Congressional Reception has long been a popular event because, in addition to giving attendees an up-close glimpse of the historic buildings on Capitol Hill, it also allows them closer access to the lawmakers who defend the rights of the unborn and vulnerable. The event promises to be exciting, is free of charge, but we’d LOVE to hear from you if you’re considering attending!

Finally, National Teens for Life is working with a select group of adults and youth leaders to make inroads into states and local communities with the message that every life is precious and deserves protection, from the moment of conception until natural death. If you’re a young person between the ages of 12 and 19, we would love to have YOU be a part of this effort. Please e-mail us at jlittle@wrtl.org and tell us a little bit about yourself.

We’ll e-mail you further information on the Summit, the Congressional Reception, and other exciting new events. Join us in the cause of a lifetime. Make some new friends and help us save a generation in the process.

We would love to hear from you. Together we can make a difference. Together we can reach a nation with the truth about abortion and euthanasia. Together we can move forward in leadership on the life issues.

Wait, was that a clue about ANOTHER exciting new event that’s coming up? Stay tuned to future issues of the NRL News to find out. Until then, join us in January and play an active role in “The Year of the Pro-Life Teen!”
