The Pro-Life Week in Review
Part Two of Three

By Dave Andrusko

For a mid-August week--supposedly a quiet time--an awful lot has gone on since Monday. But before I get to that, I want to be sure to thank all of you who responded to what's been said at daveandrusko@gmail.com and those readers who forwarded many of the items through your social networks. The success of what we do here at NRLC is always a pure reflection of your help, but never is that more obvious than in getting our message out to cyberspace.

Ty Dunne, in 1982 billboard photo.
Ty passed away this year at age 27.

There are several common themes running through developments. At the top of the list are (a) President Obama's dreadful approval numbers and (b) the growing fear among Democrats that a tidal wave of voter disapproval is approaching Tsunami-like proportions. I write about both in Parts Two and Three today.

Of all the awful news for Democrats, it's hard to imagine anything worse than the growing support among seniors for Republicans. The latest Gallup Poll reported that among those 65 and over, 53% said they would vote for a Republican House candidate while only 38% would vote for the Democrat. In off-year elections seniors traditionally are the voting group with the highest voting percentage.

At the opposite end of the spectrum is the ongoing pro-abortion assault on Crisis Pregnancy Centers [www.nrlc.org/News_and_Views/Aug10/nv081310part3.html]. This is David (the hand-to-mouth CPCs) versus Goliath (the billion dollar Abortion Industry) on steroids. But women-helping centers have the truth on their side, in the final analysis the Great Leveler!

We've also made you aware of a HHS report that reminds us that while many of the worst features of ObamaCare have not yet come online, some have [see www.nrlc.org/News_and_Views/Aug10/nv081910.html]. That is why we have the Petition from National Right to Life to members of Congress asking them to repeal Obama's pro-abortion, pro-rationing health care law and to vote in support of the Protect Life Act (H.R. 5111) which would repeal or correct all of the abortion-related problems in the bill. "Repeal Obama's Health Care Law" is downloadable at http://www.stoptheabortionagenda.com/files/Repeal-Obama-HCL.pdf.

I could discuss many other items--especially the story about pro-life camps and the polling results that shows the public is uneasy with how easily abortions can be procured--but let me talk about the memorial for a great pro-life champion, Lawrence Garvey we ran Wednesday. Mr. Garvey's involvement in the Right to Life Movement has helped build many of the organizations whose work has sharply decreased the number of abortions in the United States in recent years [www.nrlc.org/News_and_Views/Aug10/nv081810.html]. He will be greatly missed.

Finally, in this edition of TN&V, I've also included a photo of Titus Avery Dunne, who passed away recently at the age of 27. His parents wrote to tell us that "In the Fall of 1982, when Ty was 3 months old, he was the poster-child for Right to Life. This huge billboard was very visible off the freeway in Phoenix. His parents were so proud!"

Young and old, parent and children, this Movement is comprised of the best people. We at NRLC are so fortunate to have each and every one of you.
