Rebutting the Pro-Abortion
Attacks Against CPCs
Part Two of Three
By Dave Andrusko
Let
me begin by thanking all who've responded to my two columns on
"12th & Delaware," a pro-abortion HBO production masquerading as
a non-judgmental documentary about crisis pregnancy centers. I
would be on the side of the CPCs, even if they weren't almost
entirely volunteer, hand-to-mouth organizations. But I am even
more determined to do my small part when the opposition that is
gearing up to crush them has access to hundreds of hundreds of
millions of dollars.
I asked Heartbeat
International for their response to the production co-directed
by Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady. They kindly directly me to
their website at
www.heartbeatinternational.org where they critique "12th &
Delaware." Let me summarize a few of their points.
They offer multiple
examples from YouTube (and www.huffingtonpost.com) where the
women discuss their motivation. They are anything but objective
makers of documentaries. They have an agenda--exposing allegedly
"misleading" and "deceptive" CPCs.
My favorite response is
the first one, answering the Abortion Industry Claim that
"Crisis Pregnancy Centers Use Misleading Advertising." The
truth?" Pregnancy centers advertise directly to those facing an
unplanned or unintended pregnancy with statements like,
'Pregnant?' 'Scared?' or 'Think you're pregnant? We can help.'
This is only 'misleading' to those who sell abortion and are
concerned about losing market-share and profit margins.
Pregnancy centers services are free of charge and encourage
women to make a truly informed decision."
The website also addresses
assertions that women are purposely given misleading information
at some CPCs. In truth, they source their information carefully.
And if by "some,"
pro-abortion means some CPC somewhere, well, that's one of those
vague assertions that is impossible to rebut. In truth, what
stands out is how hard the leadership of the women-helping
movement has worked to ensure that everything these wonderful
ministries do and say is beyond reproach.
At
heartbeatinternational.org you can read where they gently point
out how at the same time pro-abortionists work with their allies
in Congress to try to shut down CPOCS, they work like the
dickens to make sure abortion clinics are not required to meet
"the same professional, regulatory scrutiny as the nearby
surgical unit or gynecologist's office."
There is an adage that is
as true as it is old: follow the money. The Abortion Industry is
loaded. It is not about to allow anyone or anybody to cut into
its profits without a real fight.
