President Bush to be
Featured Speaker at Celebration of Life
Part Two of Three
By Dave Andrusko
Gosh, I should surely have
noticed this before now. President George W. Bush, as modest as
he is pro-life, is going to be the featured speaker at the 27th
annual Life Centers Celebration of Life fund-raiser in
Indianapolis. The special musical guest is Grammy Award-winning
artist Sandi Patty. Sandi, and 2009 Miss America Katie Stam,
will join the 43rd President at Conseco Fieldhouse April 15.
I went on Life Centers'
webpage and found this information:

Pro-Life President George W.
Bush

"We are honored to welcome
President George W. Bush, whose strong record on life issues
demonstrates his belief that every life matters," Brian Boone,
Life Centers president and CEO, said. "This is a
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to celebrate life - with a
keynote address from a public servant who made the sanctity of
human life a priority."
According to the website (lifecenters.com)
Life Centers is "a nonprofit Christian ministry which helps
women in unplanned pregnancies by providing free services
including pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, confidential peer
counseling, 24-hour help line calls, post-abortion and maternity
support at its eight pregnancy resource centers across Central
Indiana."
How appropriate that Mr.
Bush should help out. "Bush is a fitting speaker for this
event," writes Russ Pulliam in an op-ed for the Indianapolis
Star. "He ranks with Ronald Reagan as one of the most pro-life
presidents since the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision made abortion a
legal right."
The one time I met
President Bush in person he was gracious, kind, at-ease, and a
perfect host. (A group of us from NRLC met with the President at
the White House.)
Mr. Bush is a former
President of the United States, still a very powerful man. It
does not surprise me in the least that he would find time to
travel to Indiana to speak on behalf of an organization whose
mission it is to help women find life-affirming solutions. What
a contrast to our current President.
Just a word about Sandi
Patty. When my children were young we exposed them to a lot of
great music. Among the very best was an album Sandi put together
titled "Friendship Company."
There are a number of
life-affirming songs, but none more special to me and my family
than "Masterpiece." You can listen to it at

If you can attend the
event, tickets are available at the Conseco Fieldhouse Box
Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at (800) 745-3000 or
online at Ticketmaster.com. For all other information, call
