Good News Impels Pro-Lifers to
Work Harder By Dave
Andrusko
We talked about half of what I am
about to say, earlier in the week, and the other half a little
later in the week. Now on Friday I'm putting them together.

Sharron Angle |
With the culmination of an
election cycle rapidly approaching, arguable the single most
foolish thing anyone can do is to take their foot off the gas
and coast to the finish. This is an obvious temptation when you
are speeding along, seemingly almost on cruise-control. And that
could be especially problematic for pro-lifers as more and more
races begin to move our way. (More about that below.)
The other, opposite temptation is
to over-read/overreact to the inevitable tightening in certain
contests, which pro-abortionists will crow is a harbinger of a
large-scale last-minute reversal of fortunes. Looking at the big
picture, that is most assuredly NOT the case.
The point is the same: you race
to the finish line, otherwise you risk losing contests you would
otherwise have carried. Repealing and replacing ObamaCare is
worth every second, minute, hour, and week you put in.
Good news? Plenty, but let me
just cite three. Pro-life Republican Sharron Angle, the object
of a withering barrage of media criticism and ceaseless attacks
by her opponent, has evidently weathered the storm. She leads
pro-abortion Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nv.) 50% to
46% in Thursday's Rasmussen Report.
And the Reid camp is clearly
spooked. According to POLITICO, "New polling out of Nevada is
unnerving Democrats who fear Republican Sharron Angle's campaign
is surging despite enduring millions of dollars' worth of TV ad
attacks from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid."
Two separate polls have pro-life
Republican challenger Dino Rossi surging ahead of incumbent
pro-abortion Patty Murray (D-Wa.) Rasmussen has him up by 3%.
Another poll has Rossi up by 6%. As is the case in so many
races, Independents are fleeing from pro-abortion Democrats into
the waiting arms of pro-life Republicans.
But the shocker of the day comes
out of Michigan where a Detroit Free Press poll has pro-life
Republican Rob Steel leading pro-abortion Democratic Rep. John
Dingell by 4%. Dingell is the longest-serving member of
Congress--55 years.
