Euthanasia defeated in Scotland +
update
Editor’s note. The following
was written by Alex Schandenberg, executive editor of the
Euthanasia Prevention Coalition.
Scottish parliament massively
rejects euthanasia bill by a vote of 85 to 16. Congratulations
to all the people in Scotland and the UK, especially the Care
Not Killing Alliance, for the defeat of the Margo MacDonald
euthanasia bill in Scotland.
This is a phenomenal victory. Link to my blog article for more

Many articles have referred to
this bill as an assisted suicide bill. This bill would have
legalized euthanasia in Scotland which means this bill would
have given physicians the right to directly and intentionally
cause their patients death by lethal injection.
Our supporters need to realise
that we are on a roll. In January 2010, an "Oregon Style"
assisted suicide bill was defeated in New Hampshire by a vote of
242 to 113. On April 21, the Canadian parliament defeated Bill
C-384, a bill that would have legalized euthanasia and assisted
suicide by a vote of 228 to 59. Last week, a bill that would
have legalized euthanasia in South Australia was defeated by a
vote of 12 to 9. Yesterday, a bill that would have legalized
euthanasia in Scotland was defeated by a vote of 85 to 16.
There is still much work to do.
In Quebec, the government Dying
with Dignity commission is still seeking input from its
citizens. The Quebec commission preliminary document gives us
much cause for concern. We are concerned that the Dying with
Dignity commission in Quebec intends to turn a blind eye to the
Canadian euthanasia law creating a state of lawlessness in
Quebec. We have much work to do. The Living with Dignity group
in Quebec working to change the direction of the government
commission. Link:

In Vermont, Peter Shumlin, the
newly elected democrat Governor, has stated that he intends to
legalize assisted suicide in Vermont in 2011. In fact the
assisted suicide lobby in the United States have targeted
Vermont and are planning to funnel the strength of their
national resources into Vermont. For more information, link to
my blog article:http://alexschadenberg.blogspot.com/2010/11/assisted-suicide-lobby-targets-vermont.html
In the UK the assisted suicide
lobby has established the Commission on Assisted Dying. This is
a commission that is being operated by the death lobby and is
composed of pro-assisted suicide members. This is a sham but may
sway many people. Lin to my blog comment:

In Canada, Robert Latimer has now
gained full-parole in his second degree murder conviction for
the euthanasia death in 1993 of his daughter Tracy, who lived
with cerebral palsy. Link:
