Obamacare:
As Unpopular as Ever By
Wesley J. Smith
Editor’s note. This appeared
on Wesley’s superb blog today--http://www.firstthings.com/blogs/secondhandsmoke
When the Democrats shoved
Obamacare down our throats despite having badly lost the
national political debate, and after resorting to one of the
most dishonest advocacy efforts I have ever seen, they assured
themselves it would get more popular once people found out what
is in it. Wrong.
The newest Gallup Poll shows how
unpopular the law remains. From the poll {here}
Approve 39%; Disapprove 56%.
As Abraham Lincoln may have said,
you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.
Two additional points to add to
Wesley’s insights. First, only 35% of Independents support
ObamaCare [18% of Republicans do as do 69% of Democrats].
Second, as Gallup's Lydia Saad explained, “Of the five
legislative acts, healthcare reform and the economic stimulus
package are the most politically divisive.” |
