Obama: "Moving to the Middle"? Please Don't Insult Our Intelligence

By Dave Andrusko

Shades of Bill Clinton's "triangulation." Already we are being told in some circles that pro-abortion President Barack Obama, arguably the man who has occupied the furtherest position left of any American President, is "moving to the middle." The difference, we're told, is that it took a mid-term electoral shellacking for Clinton to curb his enthusiasm, which eased the way to his re-election two years later, while Obama is doing so in advance of the November elections. (See http://www.politico.com/index.html?refresh=1)]

Let me end this week by just making two quick comments. First, even by the gullibility standard set by those who voted for Obama in the first place, it's hard to believe that an alienated public is so clueless it will conclude that a gesture here and a nod there is evidence Obama is "racing to the middle."

Second, a rebuke here and there of various Obama constituencies is meaningless. They are smart enough to know it's all for show, and that (a) there are still two more years in term, and (b) Obama can do a ton of damage administratively and/or through the federal bureaucracy.

Our job is to keep our eye on the ball, reminding people that Obama will never shirk from his "duty" to advance the agenda of the Abortion Establishment.
