Essays Wonderfully Well-Received

By Dave Andrusko

One thing I can be sure of, no matter how little or how much I place online at Today's News & Views and National Right to Life News Today. Our readers will enthusiastically respond in numbers when I print essays from teenagers.

Today is the third installment in which we have collectively reprinted the first, second, and third place finishers (for both junior and senior high school) in the National Right to Life Pro-Life Essay Contest. There were so many nice responses, such as "Bravo, Your essay says it all. Keep up the good work," and "Thank you so much for printing these essays: the contestants are so clear about the pro-life issue, it is a delight to read them."

I write a lot about the changing of the guard on the abortion issue, directly and indirectly. Those of us who've been at this for 30+ years rest confident in the knowledge that we have raised up a successor generation. That is one reason young people increasingly self-identify as pro-life: some of their closest friends are confident, politely assertive defenders of unborn children.

When you read the essays, it's hard to miss the tone of incredulity. The writers ask plaintively," How CAN you take the lives of innocent unborn children?? What is WRONG with you--what is wrong with a culture that allows the annihilation of 1.3 million little Americans each year?

When you finish reading the final two essays (found over at Today's News & Views), do drop me a line, won't you? That's daveandrusko@gmail.com.
