Obama and Buyer's Remorse

Pro-Abortion President Barack Obama |
Depending on whom you read, one's
opinion of pro-abortion President Barack Obama is either a kind
of Rorschach test of your soul or the reflection of how you
honestly think he's fulfilling his responsibilities as
President. Not surprisingly, I opt for the latter, since I think
it is obvious that the American public took a fling on a man
bereft of any executive experience and now is suffering buyer's
remorse. Put another way, you don't have to dig deep: Obama's
failures are transparent and virtually jump out at you.
Let's see what this means and why
it matters.
We've talked repeatedly about
Obama's popularity free-fall. This is not surprising in light of
the crushing conclusion reached by 48% of U.S. voters that they
"now regard President Obama's political views as extreme,"
according to Rasmussen Reports. Forty-two percent "place his
views in the mainstream."
Worse yet a July survey by a
deeply sympathetic outlet--Democracy Corps, led by two
well-known Democrats, James Carville and Stanley
Greenberg--found that among likely voters 6 in 10 believe Obama
is "too liberal" and that 55% say "socialist" is a reasonably
accurate way to describe him!
How does that match up with the
bill of goods the electorate was sold leading up to November
2008 and repeatedly Obama's first year in office? You know the
one about Mr. Moderate, the seeker after "common ground"?
Obviously it doesn't square up at
all. Either he was far more to the Left than he let on, or he
shifted dramatically once he up residency at 1600 Pennsylvania
Avenue. My guess is that most people, if asked, would ascribe to
the former interpretation.
They simply watch him and say
nope, this is not what we believe in.
Granted, we are a single-issue
Movement, but I don't believe that changes a central truth:
Obama's unrelenting pro-abortion agenda, packaged either as the
epitome of "compromise," or (as was the case with ObamaCare)
brazenly denied is indicative of where his true political
instincts lie. And they do not reside where a majority of the
American people call home.
