"Alive and Growing"

By Dave Andrusko

This is a blog entry that doesn't need to do much more than reprint (as we have) the cover of the brochure, "Alive & Growing: From the moment your life begins." It does speak volumes.

This is an amazing pro-life resource, perfect for a host of uses, including as a church bulletin insert. What you'll find is an amazing litany of fetal development facts.

And what a story it is, one that has been told and retold a million times. Only each iteration is more sophisticated, more beautiful, than the one before. And that is because we know so much more about the developing human being than we did in 1973 when the Court feigned ignorance about "when life begins."

The first two sentences of the insert capture the essence: "Our bodies are truly amazing things. From the moment our lives began at fertilization, we are constantly growing and changing individuals."

Not just pro-lifers but every generation needs to know some of the amazing benchmarks. For example, at four or five weeks after fertilization, pain receptors appear around the mouth, followed by nerve fibers, which carry stimuli to the brain. Around week six, the unborn child first responds to touch.

This is a very inexpensive resource that you can put to a multiplicity of good uses. To find out more about how to order either email JRagan1@aol.com or call 202-378-8843.
