Latest abortion numbers, rates, and ratios from Rachel K Jones, Kathryn Kooistra, “Abortion Incidence and Access to Services In the United States, 2008,” Perspectives on Sexual and Reproductive Health, Vol. 43, No. 1 (March 2011), pp. 41-50. Both researchers are from the Guttmacher Institute and the Guttmacher Institute publishes Perspectives and sponsored the survey.

Though there are different yearly totals for 2007 and 2008 on other tables in Guttmacher’s latest study and different totals on some tables from some earlier Guttmacher reports which NRLC had used in the past, the numbers used in this factsheet reflect the rounded totals given on Table 1 of the March 2011 report.
