amendment to H.R. 3200 was adopted by Waxman's Energy and Commerce
Committee on July 30, 2009, over the objections of the pro-life
members of the committee. The amendment explicitly authorizes a new
federal government insurance program (the "public option") to cover
all elective abortions. The committee's majority rejected authentic
